Welcome to our new Ranger and Director of Maintenance
William (Will) Horvath is originally from a little town in North Carolina called Harmony. He went to North Iredale High School and obtained trade experience on the job, spending many years learning from and working alongside his father. He moved multiple times and ended up in Fayetteville, N.C. to work at Camp Rockfish.
His father was the Ranger at Camp Rockfish from 2017 to 2024, and Will worked with him from 2017 to 2020. After this, he began working with a local HVAC contractor, where he gained experience with electrical and refrigeration. Will has six years of HVAC experience in residential and commercial settings. He’s certified in a variety of trades, including HVACR, plumbing, and electrical work. His other skills include welding, carpentry, and facilities maintenance. He comes to Camp Ondessonk with vast experience in customer service, inventory management, staff training, volunteer coordination, and project management, primarily in Camp and Retreat Center environments. He began in commercial HVAC when he moved to Ill., and worked with Comfort Services.
He was married to Jessica (Sanders) Horvath October 28, 2023. They have a four-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer that is Jess’ service dog, Seamus (he’s a good boy!). Will never got to attend Ondessonk as a camper, but his first experience being at Camp was moving here with his wife in October 2025, when Jess began her role as the Program and Hospitality Director at Camp Ondessonk. In his free time, he enjoys playing board games, spending time outdoors, and hanging out with his wife.
Will learned about the Ranger position from the previous Ranger, Scott. They met and worked on Raganeau together before summer started. Will felt he would be an ideal candidate for the Ranger and Maintenance Director position because of his extensive experience, his successful mentorship of a replacement for his former position at Comfort Services, his ability to collaborate with others on complex tasks, and his knowledge of Camp and its history. He said, “I love working together with volunteers and my staff in new challenges.”
