From Camp Ondessonk to Europe: A New Adventure Awaits
For generations, Camp Ondessonk has been a place where people discover new places, try new things, and make memories with friends. Now, you can gather your Camp Friends and take that spirit of adventure across the Atlantic!
Explore Europe Tours, founded by Camp Friends and longtime English teachers Becky McGarrity and Taree McGee, is offering a special European group tour for 25 people in October 2027 featuring London and Paris, with an optional extension to Rome. Since 2010, Becky and Taree have been creating cultural, historical, and educational tours designed to combine exploration, learning, and meaningful connections.
And just like a week at Summer Camp, this isn’t simply about checking destinations off a list. It’s about experiencing the stories, culture, history, food, and people that make a place unforgettable.
A European Adventure
The journey will begin in London, where the group will explore Windsor Castle and St. George’s Chapel before venturing into the English countryside to discover the mysteries of Stonehenge and the magnificent Salisbury Cathedral. In London, the group will see iconic landmarks from a unique perspective, cruise the River Thames, visit the Tower of London and Westminster Abbey, and have the opportunity to experience a show in London’s famous West End.
From London, board the Eurostar to Paris, traveling beneath the English Channel before diving into the art, history, architecture, and cuisine of France. Stand beneath the Eiffel Tower, cruise the Seine, explore Notre-Dame, and prepare a three-course French meal during a hands-on cooking experience. The group will also venture beyond Paris to the beautiful Loire Valley, home to spectacular Renaissance castles including Château de Chenonceau and Château d’Amboise.
Want to keep the adventure going? Add the optional Rome extension and walk through nearly 3,000 years of history. Explore the Colosseum and Roman Forum, visit Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel, wander through Rome’s historic center, and travel to Pompeii for a fascinating glimpse into life nearly 2,000 years ago. The journey even includes lunch and a wine tasting at a vineyard on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius.
