Camp Ondessonk Hosts CHA Instructor Certification Clinic August 14th-19th 2016

Before coming to Camp Ondessonk I didn’t k now what the Certified Horsemanship Associations, or CHA, was or did.  Now, I am a certified instructor and working in a CHA accredited stable and I have an appreciation for this dedicated association.  CHA is a great organization that has developed standards for instructors, programs, and facilities within the equine industry.

Camp Ondessonk Hosts CHA Instructor Certification Clinic August 14th-19th 2016Attaining certification as a CHA instructor has many benefits. Certification is a validation of the individual’s knowledge and ability, and demonstrates to employers and customers that the certified individual has been proven against a respected standard, under independent evaluation.  Certification means the individual is committed to professional standards and is proven to be safe, knowledgeable and effective.  Instructors receive numerous benefits such as insurance discounts, marketing help, and many other resources.

The CHA certification clinic is a fairly simple process to certify riding instructors at their current teaching level.  Riding instructors are evaluated in five areas: safety, horsemanship knowledge and ability, teaching techniques, group control, and responsibility and professionalism.

The purpose of CHA clinics is to evaluate the existing knowledge and skill level of the clinic participants and to grant certification at the level that each participant is able to demonstrate during the clinic.

The CHA Certification process involves evaluation by two CHA Certified Clinicians, in our multi-day certification clinic. CHA certification clinics involve written tests, skills demonstrations and participation in workshops. The clinic fee of $795.00 includes lodging, meals, student manuals, instructor manuals, and CHA membership and certification fees.

If you know anyone interested in becoming a certified CHA instructor, please spread the news and encourage individuals to attend!  For more information on CHA and the certifications, please visit www.cha-ahse.org.  If you have questions or would like more information on Camp Ondessonk’s August clinic, contact Meagan at stables@ondessonk.com.  Until then, Heepwah and Happy Trails!
