Kentucky Equine Excursion
Greetings, friends of Camp!
This is Lauren Lilly, from the Ondessonk Stables, and I just wanted to let everyone know that we have some very exciting new Adventure camps happening this summer, including the Kentucky Equine Excursion, a field trip to Lexington, KY, the horse capital of the world! Participants will camp for four night at the famous Kentucky Horse Park, where they will tour interactive equine presentations, experience the world-renowned International Museum of the Horse, visit with famous retired horses at the Hall of Champions and learn about carriage horses and driving. We will spend a day touring Rood and Riddle, a highly specialized state-of-the-art Equine Veterinarian Hospital, and learn about advanced rehabilitation and emergency care procedures. We will also visit one of Lexington’s prestigious breeding farms and Keeneland Race Track to watch trainers and jockeys exercise horses before going on a behind the scenes tour of the track. Other activities include a horse show jumping competition, a special rodeo event and the opportunity to meet some famous horses, including a Kentucky Derby winner. Don’t worry, though, there is still plenty of saddle time during the week, as participants will get the opportunity to ride their favorite Ondessonk horses. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for future horse professionals and all horse lovers! Campers will still get the opportunity to attend opening and closing campfire, participate in marathon, and spend some time at the Ondessonk stables.
I’m so excited about this expansion in our stables Adventure programs, and am really looking forward to this exciting trip! I hope to see you all this summer. Heepwah and happy trails!
