Ondessonk Volunteers
By Rebecca Cler
As many of you know, Camp Ondessonk wouldn’t be here without the help of Volunteers! Many buildings, waterlines, catwalks, units, trails, pasture fences, bathhouses, bridges and so much more exist because of volunteers. We have been helped by so many different groups from Knights of Columbus, Scout Troops, past campers/staff, Church groups and any other “group” a collection of people may be able to form that keep this place going. So far this spring we’ve torn down and rebuilt the catwalks at Daniel, cut cedar fence posts and raked leaves in order to clean up Le Coeur and it’s barely April! We will be hosting our annual Spring Stable Round-Up/Gardening party in which we will be hosting over 60 volunteers to reside and reroof Durbin’s Barn, clean out and plant native species in our garden beds all along the main area and spruce up the barn in preparation for this coming summer among several other projects. This summer we will have multiple volunteers each week helping us staff our activity areas, the Trading Post, maintenance department and our Health Center. If you’re interested in volunteering please don’t hesitate to call our office (618) 695-2489 or check out the website www.ondessonk.com and find out how you can help!
