Gateway Grizzlies Success
By Emma O’Brien
Have you ever been somewhere and seen someone in Ondessonk attire, but been too afraid to say “heepwah” out loud? This magical August evening was a dream come true. I think I saw more camp shirts than hot dogs! Never before have I been so surrounded by camp spirit within a 30-minute drive of my house. Camp O’s “Night At The Ballpark” was a smashing success, with almost 300 camp supporters in attendance. Ondessonkers sang a rousing rendition of “Take Me out to the Ballgame”, paraded around the field in their technicolor array of various camp shirts, and Dan King threw the wild and wacky first pitch. The Grizzlies won to boot! Between ticket sales and raffles, camp raised over $1000.00 to support their programs; major thanks to all who came out to support Ondessonk. The weather was perfect, the heepwahs were a-plenty, and everyone got to reunite and reminisce about camp.
