Camp O Day Giving Week: Honoring the Past, Investing in the Future
On June 28, 1959, the very first campers arrived at Camp Ondessonk and began a tradition that would shape generations of young people for decades to come.
Sixty-seven summers later, the Spirit of Ondessonk is still alive and thriving.
This June, Camp Ondessonk invites alumni, families, staff, volunteers, and friends to come together for Camp O Day week of giving, taking place June 22–28. The week-long celebration honors Camp’s history while helping ensure future generations can continue to experience the adventure, friendship, faith, and personal growth that define Camp Ondessonk’s legacy.
Throughout the week, supporters will have multiple opportunities to make an impact through financial gifts, Wish List purchases, and volunteer commitments. Special matching challenges, donor-sponsored opportunities, and daily stories from the Camp community will highlight the many ways Camp Ondessonk continues changing lives.
Each day of Giving Week will focus on a different aspect of the Camp experience. From the volunteers who keep Camp running, to the Loyal Lodge of Ondessonk & Tekakwitha, to the supplies and resources that directly support campers and staff throughout the summer, this week has something for everyone in the Camp Family.
Most importantly, this Camp O Day celebration is about community.
It is about former campers remembering the first time they drove down the Camp Road. It is about staff members who discovered leadership and lifelong friendships. It is about families passing traditions from one generation to the next. And it is about making sure today’s campers have the same opportunities to grow, explore, and belong.
As Camp Ondessonk celebrates 67 years since that first summer in 1959, the goal is not only to honor the past, but to invest in the future of Camp and the thousands of lives it will continue to impact in the years ahead.
