YES! Youth Environmental Summit
Camp Ondessonk will be hosting YES! Youth Environmental Summit in conjunction with the Heartwood Forest Council May 23 – 26, 2014.
This is an inaugural gathering of high school students concerned about protecting our environment and seeking solutions to environmental degradation. It will run concurrent with the 24th annual Heartwood Forest Council. This will be the model for youth environmental summits in the future. It will serve as a primer to make participants aware of threats to our State, our Shawnee National Forest, and our planet; and will focus on training people in how to be part of sustainable solutions to the environmental problems we face.
There will be nationally-known speakers, locally-based workshops, and field trips at Camp Ondessonk and in the surrounding area. Besides the phenomenal educational opportunity, YES! will include excellent meals, varied lodging options, evening entertainment, and a chance to network with other like-minded people who love the outdoors.
YOU MAY ATTEND FOR ONE DAY, TWO DAYS, OR THE ENTIRE WEEKEND

High school students and their parents or chaperons can all register for YES! at the Heartwood member rate; and they will all receive a 20% discount on lodging at Camp Ondessonk. There is a Work Exchange option to further reduce the cost. If cost is a hindrance, some scholarships are available. We do not want lack of money to be a deterrent to any student who is serious about attending.
