Preschoolers Explore Camp

Preschoolers Explore Camp

By Nolan Hurst, Camping Services Director

Rustling leaves, the smell of campfires, and cool temperatures make for an incredible Fall Season. It also makes Camp Ondessonk perfect for Preschool Classes to schedule a short field trip to Camp Ondessonk. Throughout the Fall Season, Camp Ondessonk served three different preschool programs from Johnson and Saline Counties of Illinois. This Fall, Camp Ondessonk saw 70 preschool students, along with teachers and parents.

Camp Ondessonk provides a wonderful learning space for preschool-aged children to experience the world around them in a safe, fun, and educational environment. Each activity students participate in is designed to be perfect for a preschool student to get a great taste of Camp, while not getting too exhausted. While at Camp Ondessonk preschool students participate in activities such as pony rides, goat activities, arts and crafts, s’mores roasting, hayrides, and guided walks.

Camp Ondessonk preschool programs provide an opportunity for parents to come out to celebrate the Fall Season with their child/children. For some families, it is the first time seeing their child around a horse or experiencing s’mores.

Combining families, fun, and education; Camp Ondessonk hopes to continue to inspire younger generations to continue falling in love with the world around them and explore all that can be offered each season.
