Ondessonk Adventure is Out There!
Each session, several teen camps fall under the umbrella of an Ondessonk adventure. These adventure programs are divided into three different categories, on-camp adventures, on and off-camp adventure, and trip and travel adventures.
On-camp adventures include Horse Camp and Hike, Bike, Paddle, and Climb. These programs give campers a taste of what it is like to participate in those activities while still taking part in a traditional Camp Ondessonk experience. The on-camp adventures partake in the Tuesday Night Game, Overnight, and Lodge Ceremony.
On and Off-Camp Adventure programs give campers more time away from the main areas of Camp Ondessonk. They receive in-depth instruction about their particular session and spend nights at a local campground or in the backcountry. These camps include Shawnee Backpacking & Zipline, Horse Adventure, Advanced Horse Camp, Climbing Adventure, Mountain Biking Adventure, and Camper vs. Wild.
The final category is Camp Ondessonk’s Trip and Travel Adventures. These Ondessonk adventures happen away from camp and give the participants opportunities for older and veteran campers to showcase the skills they have learned throughout other adventure camps or on their own. These programs leave camp on Sunday to maximize the time they spend at their destination and give campers more opportunities to learn about new regions of the country. These adventure programs include Paddling Adventure, Smoky Mountain Adventure, and Surf Adventure.
Smoky Mountain is a trip where campers can have opportunities to grow through Ondessonk while being fully immersed in a different environment. This summer, many of our campers overcame their fears of heights and white water rafting. It was incredible to be a part of that transformation in their lives.
