Meet Tanner Page: Camp Ondessonk’s New Equestrian Coordinator is Ready to Ride into an Incredible Summer

Camp Ondessonk is thrilled to welcome Tanner Page as our new Equestrian Coordinator. If her passion for horses and her heart for campers is any indication, the barn is in for a meaningful, memorable season.
From the moment she stepped onto the property, Tanner felt something special:
“I was in complete awe of this incredible place. Not only is the natural landscape absolutely stunning, but the people are just as remarkable.”
Now, she’s bringing her years of experience, fresh ideas, and deep compassion to Camp Ondessonk’s beloved Equestrian Program, ensuring our horses, campers, and wranglers thrive together.
A Lifelong Passion Meets Purpose
Tanner’s love for horses is more than a career; it’s a calling.
“Horses are remarkable animals that teach us many valuable life lessons. They embody grace and patience and offer us incredible gifts by allowing us to ride and spend time with them.”
She’s worked with horses since the age of 12, from trail guiding and camp counseling to training at competitive Hunter/Jumper facilities. Along the way, she has witnessed unforgettable transformations, such as nonverbal children speaking for the first time or trauma survivors finding healing in the saddle.
“Moments like these have deeply inspired me and fueled a lasting passion for this work. I am truly grateful and honored to have been chosen for this position at Camp Ondessonk.”
Leading with Heart and High Standards
As Equestrian Coordinator, Tanner is responsible for everything from horse care to staff mentorship and camper safety. But above all, she’s committed to creating a barn culture grounded in kindness, empathy, and excellence.
“I believe in leading by example. Patience, grace, and positivity are core values I bring to the workplace, and I do everything I can to ensure the team is heard and supported.”
That leadership philosophy extends beyond the barn and out onto the trails, where Tanner is helping staff and campers build confidence and forge lasting bonds with the animals in their care.
Expanding Horizons with New Opportunities
Tanner is especially excited about introducing English riding techniques, including jumping, a specialty she’s honed over the years.
“I’ve already started coaching the wranglers in this new discipline. So far, I’ve been met with nothing but enthusiasm and a genuine willingness to learn.”
These additions will give campers a broader range of experiences while deepening their skills and understanding of horsemanship.
A Place of Healing, Growth, and Joy
Tanner’s vision for the equestrian program centers on connection, safety, and joy. Whether it’s a new camper bonding with their first horse or a wrangler gaining confidence in their leadership, she wants the barn to be a space of transformation.
“Here, there are no stressors, no deadlines, and no worries, just the chance to bond and connect with these incredible animals.”
She sees every ride as a lesson in empathy, responsibility, and independence, values that campers will carry with them long after they leave Camp.
Barn Favorites and Camp Traditions
Though she admits her favorite horse changes daily, Tanner holds a soft spot for Señor, a patient, affectionate horse who’s a gentle giant with young campers.
“He listens to them, does exactly what they ask, and is always looking for a cuddle. He’s just such a sweet presence in the barn.”
As for her favorite Camp Ondessonk tradition so far?
“The Great Tug of War! It had rained all day, the field was muddy, and I got to pull against the horse campers. It was such a fun experience!”
Faith, Family, and Tradition
When asked to sum up Camp Ondessonk in three words, Tanner’s answer came easily:
“Blessed, family, tradition.”
“We are incredibly blessed with amazing staff, volunteers, and campers. Even though I’ve only been here a short time, I’ve truly felt supported by every person I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.”
Looking Ahead
With a strong foundation and a bright vision for the future, Tanner Page is ready to lead Camp Ondessonk’s Equestrian Program into its next exciting chapter. From grooming sessions and morning rides to first-time trotting and trail ride triumphs, every camper who visits the barn this summer is sure to leave with a story and a smile.
“I truly believe the barn has the power to change lives.”
Welcome to the Camp Ondessonk family, Tanner, we’re so glad you’re here.
