LUCIA’S CORNER- One of my favorite responsibilities
By Lucia (Juenger) Hodges
One of my favorite responsibilities at Ondessonk (since 1993) is managing Lost & Found. I delight in the positive responses I get when a camper is reunited with a lost/left behind possession. Sometimes, though, it becomes a challenge to identify the owner of the “LOST” item, so all I can do is hold it until I receive a request. One of these items, sadly, has occupied a space in my office since summer 2025.

This sad little gray bunny has made me smile and wonder for eight months. Someone must be missing him. He has the name “ROSE” on a manufacturer’s tag, so I did a search and made some calls with no results. If you should happen to recognize him, please call or email. He needs to go home! I really care.
LOST & FOUND TIPS TO HELP ME AND YOU:
- Put first and last name on ANY item you want returned if lost.
- Bring a marker to write a name on the Unit Shirt when you receive it.
- DO NOT use trash bags for dirty laundry. Put camper’s name on bag.
- Double-check your camper’s belongings before you leave on Saturday.
- Check the Lost & Found area (behind the original dining hall) before you check out.
- If you call with a request for left item(s), give a thorough description of the item(s). Better yet, if possible, email a picture.
- Don’t allow your camper to bring valuable or irreplaceable items.
THANKS, I’m looking forward to another amazing Ondessonk summer. Heepwah!
