Spring Stable Round-Up Volunteers Bring Heart and Hard Work to Camp Ondessonk Every spring and fall, a special group of dedicated volunteers gathers at Camp Ondessonk for Stable Round-Up, a tradition rooted in service, stewardship, and love for Camp. This invitation-only event brings together skilled individuals who lend their talents to help Camp prepare for the next season. In April, approximately 65 volunteers arrived on-site, ready to take on a wide range of mission-driven projects that spanned every corner of Camp. While the event is called “Stable Round-Up,” the work completed extends far beyond the stables, reflecting the full spirit of community that defines Camp Ondessonk. This spring’s projects were both ambitious and impactful. Volunteers cared for horses through grooming and training, maintained saddles and tack, and even helped construct a brand-new corral at Durbin’s Barn. At Garnier, new catwalk steps were built, while at The Cedars staff residence, a deck was reinforced. Volunteers also created a customized trail riding practice obstruction while their teams tackled fencing and roof repair. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who return season after season, bringing with them a spirit of service and a deep love for Camp. Their efforts make a lasting difference, not only in the upkeep of Camp’s facilities but in the memories made by every camper who benefits from their labor. Stable Round-Up is an invitation-only event. Skilled volunteers interested in participating or learning more are welcome to email registration@ondessonk.com to request additional information.
