Camp Ondessonk Thanks Bishop McGovern as He Becomes Archbishop of Omaha

Camp Ondessonk extends heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to the Most Reverend Michael G. McGovern as he prepares to begin a new chapter in his ministry as the sixth Archbishop of Omaha. Since his installation as the Ninth Bishop of the Diocese of Belleville in 2020, Bishop McGovern has provided a deep commitment to the people of Southern Illinois.

On March 31, 2025, Pope Francis appointed Bishop McGovern as Archbishop of Omaha. While we are sad to see him leave the Diocese of Belleville, we are filled with hope and pride knowing that he will continue to shepherd the faithful with wisdom, humility, and compassion.

As he prepares for his formal installation May 7, 2025, we offer our prayers and best wishes. Thank you, Bishop McGovern, for your faithful service to our diocese. May God bless you in your new role as Archbishop of Omaha.
