Camp Ondessonk Stable News
Howdy from the Ondessonk Stables,
Exciting times are in store for the barn this coming year including the additions of a new Equestrian Coordinator and new horses! Shandril Dayton, our previous Equestrian Coordinator, is now working at her dream job as a Vet Technician! We are excited for her and look forward to her visiting camp often. We are in the final interview process of hiring a new Equestrian Coordinator who will most likely join us later this fall. These aren’t the only additions though.
With the changes we are making at the Ondessonk Stables, the fall and winter seasons will focus on our staff assisting the Equestrian Coordinator, helping new horses adjust to camp, hosting lots of Horsemanship Road Scholars, and facilitating trail rides and implementing extra educational equestrian opportunities for school groups.
Next summer we are adding more sessions of Horse Camp and a brand new equestrian program entitled “Advanced Horse Camp.” Advanced Horse Camp will build upon the skills and knowledge our campers learned in “Horse Camp” and “Horse Adventure.” To accommodate the growth within our stable program, we are retiring some of our faithful camp horses and welcoming new ones to the herd! If you are looking for a way to have Camp Ondessonk Stables in your everyday life, consider taking home your very own camp horse! Contact [email protected] for more details about adopting one of our retiring horses.
If you take a trip out to camp this fall, please stop by the stables and enjoy a trail ride through the Shawnee! Did you know that your group or family can schedule an hour long, half-day, all day, or overnight trail ride?
Heepwah and Happy Trails,
Catherine Limkeman
Equestrian Director
