Camp Friends Celebrate 67 Summers During Camp O Day Week of Giving
From June 22–28, Camp Ondessonk celebrated its 67th summer with the annual Camp O Day celebration, a week of giving dedicated to supporting the mission that has impacted generations of campers since 1959.
Throughout the week, Camp Friends came together to share their gifts of time, talent, and treasure, helping ensure that future generations of young people can experience the adventure, faith, friendship, and personal growth that define Camp Ondessonk.
Thanks to the generosity of our community:
- $27,675 was contributed by 110 Camp Friends;
- 283 items, valued at more than $7,943, were purchased from Camp’s Wishlist to support program areas and operations;
- 58 Camp Friends pledged to volunteer their time and talents during the coming year.
The week featured daily opportunities to support different aspects of Camp’s mission, including general support, volunteers, Lodge membership, and in-kind giving. Camp Friends responded enthusiastically, demonstrating the deep connection so many people have to Camp Ondessonk.
A special thank you goes to our generous challenge gift sponsors, including Tom & Sue Lamczyk, Steve & Mary Mahieu, Jacquie Jablonski & Karl Undesser, and Peggy Hausmann, whose leadership inspired others to participate throughout the week. Their matching gifts amplified the impact of every donation and helped make this year’s campaign a tremendous success.
Held each year on June 28, Camp O Day commemorates the anniversary of the day the first campers arrived at Camp Ondessonk in 1959. More than six decades later, the Spirit of Ondessonk continues to thrive because of the dedication and generosity of Camp Friends across the country.
We are grateful to everyone who participated, whether by making a gift, purchasing an item from the wish list, pledging to volunteer, sharing our messages, or encouraging others to get involved. You are helping ensure that Camp Ondessonk remains a place where young people discover confidence, resilience, leadership, and lifelong friendships.
Thank you for helping us celebrate 67 summers and for investing in the future of Camp Ondessonk.
