Camp Ondessonk Blessed with $3,750 Grant from CSMA

American Martyrs will be refurbished, thanks to the generosity of Catholics who supported the 2012 Catholic Services and Ministry Appeal for the Belleville Diocese.

Camp is especially grateful to diocesan deaneries who supported this project: East Deanery ($1,000), E. St. Louis Deanery ($500), North Central Deanery ($500), South Deanery ($1,000), and the West Deanery ($750).

Our campers regularly sit on the floor during Mass and council, so the old musty carpeting will be removed and the concrete floor will be resurfaced and stained. A new HVAC system was installed in spring 2012 in the first
phase to update the Chapel to better serve our campers and guests. The project has been funded by individual gifts and grants.

The next phases include refinishing the woodwork and exposed timbers, repairing the ceiling and replacing the door in the sacristy, and upgrading some of the exterior surfaces as needed.

As always, the “Camp magic” from our volunteers and donors ensure that the Chapel will be ready for another 54 years of summer camp!
