School Year: Outdoor Ed & Rec – Seasonal Employment
Seeking for Spring 2026:
From Late-August to Late-May, Camp Ondessonk functions as an outdoor education facility, retreat center, afterschool location, campground, event venue, and more. To help these programs come to life, Camp Ondessonk looks to hire a dedicated, hard-working, creative, flexible staff to fill our critical seasonal roles.
Outdoor Education Instructors live on-site for 3-9 months and act as our main facilitators and support staff for all groups and programming.
Afterschool Instructors come to Camp to help facilitate our local afterschool programming from 3-5:30pm, two days per week, acting as tutors, activity leaders, group guides, etc.
Weekend Event and Campground Staff spend the weekend at Camp Ondessonk during large events to provide programming and support for guests of that specific event. All staff are required to be First Aid and CPR Certified.
Summer Seasonal Employment
Thank you for your interest in working during the summer at Camp Ondessonk. The year-round administration team is available for any questions you might have throughout the application process for employment. The summer leadership staff is comprised of proven, sound decision-makers who have completed college or are actively working towards that goal. The staff to camper ratio is approximately 1:8. Leadership & staff training emphasizes child development, child protection, teaching skills, and responsible leadership. First aid and CPR training is required for employment. Depending on position, staff members are certified by the Certified Horsemanship Association, National Rifle Association, American Red Cross Lifeguard, or other appropriate certifying bodies.
NEW! Summer Cook & Food Service Staff
Camp Ondessonk is looking for individuals interested in working in food service this summer. Join our team and help provide meals to over 4,000 campers, staff, and volunteers from mid-May to early August.
Contact Length: Full time for 11 weeks (May 18 – Aug 1, 2026) with potential to extend before or after
Qualifications:
– Must be 18 years of age or older
– Strong teamwork and communication skills
– ANSI approved Food Manager Certificate or Food Handler Certification
– Minimum one year experience cooking in restaurants, schools, banquet halls, camps, or similar environment
– Culinary background preferred
Major Responsibilities and Activities:
– Support the organization’s food service program by assisting in preparing, serving, and cleaning meals for up to 500 summer campers and staff per week.
– Ensure that food service is being conducted in accordance with all applicable food preparation, handling, and serving regulations.
– Ensure Camp’s kitchen, all food storage areas, equipment, dishes, and main dining hall are kept in clean and sanitary condition.
– Provide courteous and otherwise excellent service to campers and other individuals receiving Ondessonk provided meals.
– Control access to Ondessonk’s main kitchen and dining hall, as well as the St. Noel Kitchen.
– Participate in waste reduction efforts, including container recycling and minimizing food waste.
– Perform other duties as assigned or in support of the Food Service Director.
Compensation: Hourly ($15.00); Opportunity for performance-based and experience-based increase
