The MowMan Needs a Mower
Driving onto Camp Ondessonk property, one is struck by the nicely mowed lawns that make a welcoming first impression to those who have never been to Camp as well as to those who have come through Camp’s Gate multiple times. Ever wonder what it takes to keep all the grass around Camp so well-manicured? It takes the constant, relentless efforts of the MowMan along with the entire Maintenance Crew AND an efficient, well-running riding mower.
A mower with more than 1,800 hours of mowing on it might still run, but it shows its age with repairs that make it expensive to use. John Blue, Camp’s MowMan, knows what it’s like to sit on an old mower for up to 28 hours a week, mowing Ondessonk’s expansive lawns of more than 20 acres.
That’s why during the first two weeks of February, you are asked to help give Mike Jennings and the Maintenance Staff a very special Valentine’s gift – a new riding mower! With spring fast approaching, that mower will be needed in a big way.
Our goal is to raise $7,500 by February 14, 2021. But the best news is, a couple of generous donors have already given $4,100 toward the mower! So, we only have $3,400 to go!
If we reach a total of $7,500 by February 14th, you will be treated to a video of the MowMan Song provided by several former staff members! You won’t want to miss this exclusive video! Click here to participate in the Valentine present. Please restrict to Annual Restricted/Maintenance and note “Riding Mower” in the “Notes” box when making your gift.
