Giving the Gift of Camp

Jason Burklow Giving the gift of Camp OndessonkOver the holidays, Jason Burklow from O’fallon, Illinois, spotted a white Jeep with purple Heepwah letters!  Being a Jeep owner and Camp Ondessonk enthusiast, he had to speak to the owner, because there is only one place on the planet that would inspire such a unique Jeep.  He introduced himself to the young lady who owns the vehicle, and she told him that she was on Camp’s summer staff recently.  Jason replied that he is really “old school” and that Dan King was one of his counselors back in the day. They both laughed, and Jason said he felt old.

Jason, a camper from 1985 – 1990, staff member the summers of 1991 (kitchen) and 1992 (Unit Leader), and proud Lodge member states that he has the honor of being the Gaga Champion from Father/Son Weekend in 2016!

His encounter with a recent staff member inspired Jason’s Christmas giving.  He bought a Camp O gift certificate to give to a girl he knows so she can attend Camp Ondessonk this summer.  Jason knows that a week in the woods will provide remarkable experiences that will last a lifetime.  He states, “In my mind’s eye, there is no better way to give to Camp than to let somebody experience it.”  His generous Christmas gift is a sure bet to instill the Ondessonk Spirit in this young lady!

If you would like to provide the Ondessonk Spirit to a child who might not otherwise have the financial means to attend Camp, consider a gift to Scholarships.  Scholarship funding helps make Camp more accessible to children of all economic means.  To help a child attend Camp this summer, click here, then select Annual Restricted under Campaign, and Scholarship under Purpose.  You can be the spark that ignites another generation of the Ondessonk Family!
